Why would my friend tell me to grow up?
She had a nasty cold sore that looked EXACTLY like this

It looked like her upper lip was about to pop, anywho, I’ve never had a cold sore in my life, and I told her that she couldn’t take hits from my cigarettes or drink out of my water bottle, and she got mad at me and said “GROW UP!” and said, “EVERYBODY GETS COLD SORES!”
Then she tried to get one of our cups and I told her no, and politely gave her a plastic cup so when she’s done she could dispose of it. Why do I need to grow up? I don’t want herpes on my lip!!!

Sounds likes shes the one that needs to grow up. Not everyone gets cold sores. If you had let her drink out the cup then there is a pretty good chance you’d get one as the are highly contagious.
But maybe she was just self conscious about it and you (in her opinion) making a big deal out of it offended her. Don’t worry, i’m sure it was just a moment of rage and everything should blow over soon :)

I don’t blame you. They are very contagious, but not everyone gets them. I think you have done the right thing. She’ll get over it!
Having a cold sore is a terrible, painful thing. She may have just been embarrassed but you definitely did the right thing. They’re highly infectious.
she might tell you to grow up because she feels embarrassed by your reaction, and making her feel less of a person, and that it wasn’t normal. So the next time your around her don’t be so cocky about it, try to comfort her and not down talking her.
