People with outbreaks/cold sores pretty much have HSV 1 (herpes simplex virus), right?
It is summer time and my sister and her friend both sport outbreaks/cold sores on their lips, upper & bottom like once a month but they say it’s “just a cold sore.”
How the hell can you get a COLD sore in the middle of summer?
That’s pretty much HSV, right?
And should I not share cups, straws, spoons, etc. with her?
P.S. - They have even made out with each other so is it possible one contracted it from the other?

Yes that’s right. Cold sores are caused by the ORAL herpes virus aka HSV1 on the mouth. Cold sores can be triggered to break out by extreme hot or cold temps and being out in sunlight for too long, not just the cold. Don’t share utensils with her while she has a cold sore. Cold sores are a nicer name for oral herpes and they can break out any time of the year, not just when it’s cold.
If he made out with her while she had a cold sore then he could contract them too. Most of the time cold sores are commonly transmitted during child hood by being innocently kissed by some one that has cold sores. If he does get cold sores he could have had them for a long time, same with her.
