This is the first cold sore treatment I have found that with early application at the first sign of tingling literally stops the growth of the cold sore. In a week it was gone…..this stuff really works!

I’ve had cold sores since i can remember and have found nothing to shorten healing time… until now.
They were correct in saying apply as soon as you feel the tingle. I’ve been able to stop two potential outbreak blisters last year by applying as soon as i felt them coming on. With my most recent outbreak, i was too late in applying abreva and the blisters formed. :(
Take this with you everywhere so you’re always prepared!! ^_^

The problem with this item is the price. For me, who has recurring fever blisters, it gets to be too expensive. In my case, they are the result of stress. Also, my boyfriend is a carrier and very rarely breaks out but I’m the constant victim. Wish science would find something to resolve this problem once and for all. Abreva must be used the minute your lips start itching, but even so, it comes and stays a couple of weeks.

I am a dentist who sees a lot of people with cold sores, which is a reactivation of the Herpes I virus. The cold sore is the virus replicating as a result of some sort of stress that decreases one’s immune system (sunlight, illness, too much exercise, etc).
Abbreva has been shown in clinical studies to be somewhat effective, but the key with this treatment or any other for that matter is to start when you first feel the tingling, itchy, burning sensation of another cold sore coming on. If you wait for the cold sore to erupt, virtually nothing will relieve it except time and your own immune response. So start applying Abbreva immediately for the best chance to limit the development of the cold sore, and to aid in faster healing time.
Your dentist or doctor can prescribe anti-virals in either a topical form or a tablet form for severe cold sore cases, but once again, if it is not started immediately, the cold sore will develop and stay with you for 10 days or so. Ask for Zovirax (Acyclovir) or Denavir.
Always use a lip balm with sunscreen as too much sunlight can trigger a new eruption of a cold sore. And don’t kiss when you have cold sores, for the virus can spread.
Abbreva is a good product. As with any product, it will not work for everyone - but it is certainly worth a try.

This is the only product I have found which not only soothes shingles blisters, but it relieves the associated nerve pain almost instantly. It is not just for cold-sores anymore: I can apply it over the length of my sciatic nerve and the pain disappears. It fights all herpes viruses, and without it, my shingles would not abate. Although a little goes a long way, I am happy to find the more affordable prices at the Amazon Marketplace.
